What can we do in July

A light hoeing or forking of the soil will keep the top couple of inches loose, this will allow the rain to penetrate more and air through the soil for the roots to breathe

Look at taking all dead leaves or growth from your perennials especially if the weather is a little on the dry side

Dead head your Roses ( Always prune back to a stem with 5 leaves not 3 otherwise you may not see flower return)

Look at your display and if theres any visible soil, plant up with some perennials, less soil, less dryness and less weeds

Feed your lawn- Use something like a Proctors feed as this contains a large amount of Iron, vital for many plants health and growth

After a heavy rain fall top dress your borders with a good organic mulch ( Strulch, Bracken Down, Compost,Woodland Mulch, Composted Manure)

Borders could be fed with Fish,Blood And Bone for fruit and flower or Bone Meal for root growth or try 6x a good fertiliser with very visible results
