Plants are used in many different ways in and around our lives, by incorporating living things into our surroundings we can not only improve the look of our homes but also improve the air we breathe around them. Nature then becomes the foundation of our home, gives us balance and calm, aesthetic and psychological in a healthier environment which in turn can have a major and positive impact on our mental and physical health.

What can we do in June
A light hoeing or forking of the soil will keep the top couple of inches loose, this will allow the rain to penetrate more and air through the soil for the roots to breathe
Look at taking all dead leaves or growth from your perennials especially if the weather is a little on the dry side
Dead head your Roses ( Always prune back to a stem with 5 leaves not 3 otherwise you may not see flower return)
Now is a good time to replenish your perennial plants to fill out those borders but it would be wise to remember that many mid to late flowering perennials are not available to the public. So research and hold fire or contact Inspire Garden Architects for advice and availability
Any spring to early summer shrubs that have finished flowering can now be pruned to shape and control
Renovate and top dress those paths for ease of use through the summer
Feed your lawn
After a heavy rain fall top dress your borders with a good organic mulch ( Strulch, Bracken Down, Compost,Woodland Mulch, Composted Manure)
Small borders could be fed with Fish,Blood And Bone for fruit and flower or Bone Meal for root growth
If your looking at various tall Alliums at the moment look to order bulbs from a good supplier in August and plant in early to late November
