Inquisitive observation and hands on experience,
is a good way to learn.
Theory and practical in one lesson
Gardens need to be productive, by this I mean through interest, involvement, enjoyment, relaxing. The more you understand the plants and their needs, the more the incentive grows to work with them. The garden becomes a pleasure not a chore.
So, my aim is to work alongside you in your garden to tutor and guide you in horticultural practices with time served skills, to equip you with all that is needed to run a happy, healthy and successful garden, and in turn make your garden, your very own, outdoor space.
How does it work ?
Each lesson tailored to suit you and your ambitions,
From courtyard garden to creating tub and pot displays, to small, medium or large areas,
Lessons are planned so you make decisions on areas you are learning and are relevant to your garden,
Show you the importance of plants and positioning in the garden,
Cover horticultural points from experience on items not found in books,
Timing in the garden, from when to plant, feed and plan colour through the seasons,
To help you gain confidence in your garden.
There is no better place to learn and understand plants than in your own garden. Lessons in a classroom are okay, but its all theory, you need to know how to action the task to fully understand the principle.
I will also show you how important shape is in the garden and how this often reflects on the plants you buy ,movement for a relaxing area and the flow of colour in various shades.
You will also be provided with information on small projects you can start doing yourself, to gain confidence and make the garden what you really want it to be.
There are so many things in horticulture which makes your garden individual. How your positioned, north, east, south or west facing, type of soil, open or windy, etc,it all adds up to your own special area.Do you know how plants tell time, which plants (unlike us) need the cold spell to encourage growth and flowers, which plants do you strip the leaves from to create flowers?
The Garden : The only classroom where in each lesson you create the results.
Make your garden as fresh as a daisy
When it comes to the garden, knowledge is vital to create the vision you dream of. You may be interested in forms of art, photography, sculptures, painting, the list is endless, but the common element in all this is the garden and whats in it. You may get inspiration from natures own garden (I do when I go to the Scottish highlands), but, when it comes to shape and texture and colour, nothing beats the architectural shapes flowers and leaves will provide.
Just look at Astrantias, Passion Flowers, they are intricate, delicate, and exquisite, there is nothing else like them.
I can help you in creating these areas, these amazing plants positioned like a work of art in your own garden, and then through the art you do, use the garden as your inspirational book.
Go on be inspired,
Sow the seed, Grow the knowledge,
Reap the rewards.
